Centennial Trail Update and Walking Tour

Construction has begun on the East side of Centennial Trail! This section will connect Centennial Park to the East Helena trail by Walmart. While there will be a couple gaps due to right-of-way issues and anticipated construction on I-15, the majority of the eastern half of the trail should be completed this fall.

Stakeholders and interested citizens will be taking a walking tour tomorrow of the area slated for Centennial Trail West. Organized by S.A.V.E.'s Transportation VISTA Allison Batch, the tour is intended to be a brainstorming session for non-motorized possibilities in the area and a way to get the community excited about the trail.

New Bike/Walk Incentive Program for Helena

The Tri-County Green Business Program and Bike Walk Helena have started a rewards program to encourage active transportation around Helena. The "Bike Walk Benefit Program" is being piloted with three downtown businesses participating: Taco del Sol, The Hub, and Blackfoot Brewing Company. If you bike or walk to any of these three businesses, you can receive a stamp on a punch card. Once you've earned ten stamps, you receive a $2 discount at Taco del Sol or The Hub, or a free brew at Blackfoot.

The goal is to expand the program to other local businesses over the next few months to promote healthier, greener modes of transportation. The program benefits both customers and store owners by giving shoppers a discount while encouraging them to patronize locally owned businesses.
